Island Mask 1 Artwork 1 of 20. Part of the "Cüirtopia: Soft Crash" exhibition (2022) at the Puerto Rico Museum of Contemporary Art, is this piece showing an island mask. Amidst drawings depicting buildings and territories, the island masks bring a sense of human scale and the importance of the individual body. In the Cüirtopia story, as the migrants approach the Caribbean, the sun begins burning their skin. As a solution, they begin creating decorative masks from shells, leaves, flowers, and fruits to protect themselves from the sun's rays. An ode to the figure of "el vejigante", these digital drawings were meticulously drawn on AutoCAD, and printed on 36"x36" watercolor paper. Regner Ramos and Delgado de León 2022.
